“Façade clinker work” broad term that covers all ceramic products – facing or clinker intended for use on the exterior of structure. The group includes bricks, shaped bricks and ceramic slips, both facing and clinker. Although those materials are used for similar applications (façades, fencing, elements of landscape and architecture), they vary in terms of technical parameters and also appearance.
Clinker brick is one of the most durable building materials developed by human, which is created in the process of burning the mix of clay and quartz with the addition of chamotte in very high temperature, usually up to 1000°C. The raw material composition and heat treatment make the structure compact and allow to achieve extremely high technical parameters – the compressive strength over 30 Mpa, the low level of absorbability under 6% and resistance to harsh environmental conditions.
Facing brick is every ceramic brick which is freezeproof. These are often the only two features in common with clinker brick. Its structure can be either compact or porous, its absorbability usually reaches even up to 20%, and it’s characterized by weaker compressive strength. However, due to its freezeproof properties, it can be used in exactly the same way as clinker brick and also proudly be called “façade clinker work”.
All types of façade clinker works are linked by the raw material from which they are made, the manufacturing method and their specific beauty, aesthetics and timelessness. Those products are used both in traditional construction works and modern applications, perfectly matching with other materials such as steal, glass or composites.
Special attention should be drawn to bricks from PATOKA brickyard. Their rawness, metallic inclusions and slag make them unique and it’s impossible to find equivalents or substitutes in the market.
The main feature of façade clinker work is not only a great look, but most importantly, durability and practicality. It is resistant to harsh environmental conditions, high and low temperatures, heavy rain and hailstorms. In case of façade applications, it significantly increases fire safety and acoustic insulation of walls. It is highly resistant to chemicals, even to concentrated acids and alkalis, therefore it can be cleaned with any kind of detergent – even under pressure.
Thanks to the unique properties of façade clinker work, it can be used on both buildings and elements of landscape architecture. Its durability gives owners a guarantee of long years of trouble-free use.
