Not every paver is the same… Paving blocks do not always fulfill their role equally well. Many factors depend on the raw material the block is made from. For example, clinker paver is superior to concrete blocks in terms of durability, abrasion resistance and color stability. It combines outstanding durability with classy appearance, preserving an affordable price at the same time. Why else is clinker block better than the other types of blocks?
High durability clinker paving blocks
Clinker paving block, compared to other solutions available, shows exceptionally beneficial technical qualities and functional benefits. Why? Because clinker block is made of clay mixtures that naturally burn into a various colors. In the burning process at a temperature of 1000°C, a sinter with parameters similar to the most durable natural stones is formed. The compressive strength of 200 MPa, even with a thickness of 47 mm, is one of them. As a result, the thinner clinker paver is almost twice as durable as the thicker 80 mm concrete block.
Paving block that does not fade
Clinker paving blocks retain both their functional benefits and their beauty for a lifetime – including the color, which is the effect of the raw material used (the use of different types of clay results in different shades) and a precisely controlled burning temperature. It facilitates the creation of even the most sophisticated patterns, and at the same time ensures that carefully selected color and thoughtful arrangement of elements of the road, driveway, sidewalk or terrace will continue to please many generations of users.
Abrasion resistant paving block
Due to the clinker block manufacturing method, this type of paving block is characterized by the highest class of abrasion resistance. The extremely strong bound of grains, which are extremely difficult to separate and detach, is peculiar to ceramal. Unlike concrete paving blocks, clinker pavers are practically not subject to abrasion. It does not emit harmful dust, even in the case of heavy traffic. It also doesn’t require refreshing, painting or regular replacement every couple of decades due to exploitation.
Skid-resistant paving block
This is one of the most important functional features as it ensures safe use. In this respect, clinker paver is characterized by the highest possible resistance class. It beats not only concrete paver, which gets polished as a result of usage, but also the granite paver, which face structure is often uneven. It causes problems both when removing snow from such a surface and walking wearing high-heeled shoes.
Paving block – Cheap to install and use
Clinker paver can be laid in many ways, but the construction method called flexible (on densified aggregate subbase, without permanent setting of the paver to the ground with the use of cement) should especially be recommended. With the proper selection of different aggregate size fractions, it provides high wheel load capacity – no need to use an expensive concrete slab or stabilizing the ground with cement. The cost of investment can also be reduced by utilizing basic paving block to build curbs and steps. This is possible because clinker paver has as many as 5 aesthetic faces – two flat surfaces, two “headers” (shorter sides) and one “stretchers” (longer side). This feature allows this product to be used in a wider range of applications than its intended use. Durability of clinker block and its resistance to soiling are obviously crucial elements – a simple rain bath is enough to keep it clean. However, in the event of paint spilled on the driveway, the damaged blocks simply need to be turned over to the other, clean side. There will be no difference in texture or shade!
Paving block with good adhesion
We expect roads, driveways, sidewalks and terraces to not easily become slippery for either the wheels of cars or the shoes of pedestrians. Clinker block has this advantage – when it’s either dry and wet. And due to its excellent abrasion resistance mentioned earlier, it also has no tendency to so-called polishing. Even after decades of use, its surface will not become dangerously smooth, especially after rain, which sometimes causes slipping, for example, on granite slabs or stone pavers.
A wide range of colors and designs of paving block
The color of clinker paving block is the result of a natural process. It offers a great variety of colors – from yellow, through orange and very diverse red shades, to brown and currently fashionable graphite shades. In addition to paver of a rather uniform color, shimmering shades are also available – examples include yellow-brown Alt Solaris, coral-red Lava, red-gray Mozaika or red-cherry Antika with many burnt spots. On top of that, there are diverse formats. Typical size of the face is 200×100 mm, however, paver with the “Alt” marking in their name are narrower and have face dimensions of 200×48.5 mm. A square shape is peculiar to the Mozaika or Classic paving blocks. This diversity results in great arrangement possibilities – a relatively “simple” block can be used to create a vast number of one-, two- and even multicolored patterns.
Paving block that increases the property value
Clinker paving block maintains great appearance for long years. It is important not only for aesthetes, but also for individuals who logically evaluate the value of a property. In the case of selling a house with a clinker driveway or terrace, it’s easier to attract a high-profiled client and obtain a better transaction price, because clinker block is perceived as high-quality, expensive material. Obviously, the durability of clinker work plays the key role, because it ensures zero maintenance costs mentioned earlier.
